bronze olympian And the winner is…

photoBefore I reveal the winner, I have some exciting news to share. After much thought, I decided to pursue compound archery vs recurve. I realized we have natural talents for a reason and should use them vs always trying to work on our weaknesses. I’m not saying we shouldn’t try to improve them, but I’ve spent the last too many years trying not to be “bad” at things and conquering my fears, instead of recognizing my God given strengths and using them to the best of my ability.

So long story short, I ordered a new Hoyt target bow, it came in last Wednesday. I’ve shot it 3 times, and last night in league I hit the bronze Olympian level of the USA archery adult achievement program, with my score of 288 (and that was with an 8!)!!!

I’m happy not just because this is a big accomplishment, especially in such a short time frame, but more because it reconfirmed that I made the right decision in choosing to move forward with compound. I’m not stopping here, but using this as momentum to continue towards my goal of getting a spot on the US national archery team this year.

  1. Congratulations. Glad to hear that you have a goal set and are going for it. Looking forward to the end of the racing season so I will finally have some time to put my bow to use. Finished restoring it and now it is just sitting there.

  2. Thanks Ray! I’m just the opposite, I need to get back on my bike…I think it’s awesome that you restored your bow, would love to see it sometime 🙂
