Products I Love: 110% Gear

This is definitely the week I’ve been waiting for since I first came up with the idea to feature products I love each week. Hands down, this is my favorite product right now, and I can’t wait to tell you about it!

So for starters, if you haven’t already heard of 110% compression gear, click here.

For all of you skeptics out there thinking, big deal another brand of compression gear, been there, heard about that. Sorry, but no you haven’t 🙂  This stuff is truly a game changer. For those who already enjoy compression gear, keep reading, as 110% products will just add to your love of compression gear.

Have you ever forced yourself into a painful tub full of ice after a tough workout or the night before a race? I remember back to my track and field days in high school, this was THE thing to do when we traveled for invitationals and had to stay in hotels. Friends would laugh at each other, as each took their turn in the frigid ice bath. Alternatively, have you ever tried to balance ice packs on your knee or elbow after an injury. I know personally, I’d tried wrapping dish towels and other contraptions but nothing seemed to hold the ice in place AND it always seemed to be too cold or not cold enough. As Goldilocks would say, I was missing the just right.

This is where the benefits of 110% compression gear comes in. All of their products have excellent compression properties and can be worn during exercise, after or just throughout the day. The material is comfortable, squeezes in all the right places AND there are pockets to slide in ice sleeves. This gives you two healing properties in one, which saves you time, hassle and a mess. Wear your compression gear during a tough workout, then all you have to do is slide the provided ice sleeves in their pouches…no need to change clothes, empty your ice bin, etc. Even better then the idea itself is the fact that the ice actually gets to your muscles at exactly the right temperature.

So besides the fact that this product is truly revolutionary, I also highly recommend the company behind the product. I first met 2 reps from the company at a rock n roll marathon expo. They had these weird looking space bags hanging up, and I didn’t venture over right away. Eventually my curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to ask what they were selling. A woman kindly explained the product and asked if I would like to try anything. I explained that my knees tend to ache after a long day or tough workout, so the knee sleeves sounded like a great solution. She measured me to correctly size them, I put them on (could feel the compression right away), she slipped in some ice sleeves and I realized the full benefit of these products. Not only did the ice feel great, but I was able to walk around, as I would in my home, without them moving, slipping down, etc.

Five minutes later, I bought the knee sleeves for myself and on a whim decided to buy the knickers for my husband. I knew he tended to get sore/tight quads form all his intense biking, so I figured I’d give it a shot.At the time I questioned getting the knickers for myself instead of just the knee sleeves, but with the difference in price, I decided to stick with the knee only, as I had never really experienced any quad issues before. The woman at the booth also explained that if I changed my mind at a later date, she would be happy to exchange them for me.

After using the product the rest of my vacation, I was hooked and knew I was going to upgrade to the knickers. I realized the difference in money was well worth the benefits of having my hips, upper legs AND knees all supported and able to be iced. Also, I remembered what I had learned over the years; that most knee pain stems from issues higher up on the leg or hips,so I figured it could only help my knees even more. My decision was confirmed once my husband tried his knickers and loved them immediately (he is usually veryskeptical about trying new products).

Shortly after, I went to the 110% compression site to get a phone number to call about exchanging my knee sleeves for knickers. While on the site, I saw the company was in the middle of a big drive to raise money for breast cancer awareness. Personally, I am a huge supporter of this cause, as I have seen too many friends and family members diagnosed with breast cancer, so this was another plus related to the company for me. In the returns section, I realized that the woman at the expo wasn’t just being nice since it was an expo, but the company policy was actually such that they accepted returns and exchanges at no cost to you the customer. So few companies in today’s world do this, yet for me this is hand’s down something that will instantly make me favor a company (even if I never have to use the policy). By doing this, they are making sure customers are taken care of and get what they want, which really speaks volumes for the company and what they are about. Sure everycompany is out to make a profit, but I believe some truly care about their customers as well.

So when I did end up calling in, the person I spoke with was very friendly and willing to help. They didn’t try to question me or change my mind, and actually gave me some useful feedback on sizing, since I was between two sizes. Also, I asked if it was possible to get a pair of the “pink” knickers, which were part of their fundraiser, and the individual on the phone was happy to make the switch. Also, I was given instructions on how to return my knee sleeves, at no cost to me, but it was suggested I wait unit the knickers came so I could make my final decision with both products in hand.

Within 2 minutes of getting off the phone, I had an email confirmation of my order and by the end of the day, I received a tracking number for it.  My new pink knickers arrived less than a week later, just as the rep on the phone had suggested. I tried them on and knew instantly I was keeping them. Who wouldn’t want something that looks like this:

Just to wrap up, a couple other cool things I have found out since owning 110% compression gear. It’s waterproof. What do I mean by this? I mean it’s actually compression gear you can swim in. Personally, I probably wouldn’t wear my knickers to do laps in the pool, but that is more due to the fact that I am more of an upper body swimmer than lower.  However, I will say, I think this is a great option for triathletes who may want to wear the 110% shorts or knickers during an entire triathlon. Another fun fact is 110% compression has a field of athletes theysupport. Also, they are giving back to all sports, while continuing to come up with new products at the request of their customers. In my mind, 110% is the type ofcompany we all should support, and I know I’d love to work for; they are innovative, give back and treat their customers right!

  1. After this weekend, I felt I had to add to this review. The 110% knickers were literally a life saver after my crash in the race on Sunday. I was able to keep the swelling down and ice during the long drive home. Without these, I know my recovery time would have been longer and the drive home unbearable!
